An-Nisa is an award-winning charity founded in London. For over two decades, we’ve provided a welcoming space for Muslim women and their families to come together, build connections, and take part in activities that make a difference.
An-Nisa was founded nearly 25 years ago in West London by a group of seven women who shared a vision to make a difference in their community. What started as a simple idea among friends has grown into a trusted and award-winning charity that continues to support Muslim women and their families.

Our elders’ tea party is a welcoming space for senior members of the community to connect and share stories over a cup of tea. These monthly gatherings are designed to combat loneliness, create friendships, and celebrate the experiences of our elders in a relaxed and supportive environment.
The walk and talk initiative encourages women to connect with nature and one another through regular guided walks in beautiful green spaces. These walks are about more than staying active, they offer a chance to engage in meaningful conversations, relax, and experience the therapeutic benefits of being outdoors.
We’ve explored stunning locations such as the Chilterns, Central London parks, and even the Peak District! This initiative has become a firm favourite among our members. Be sure to check out our gallery to see some of the beautiful spaces we’ve visited.
Our community garden in Slough is a shared space where members come together to grow organic produce, learn about sustainable gardening, and connect with each other. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a complete beginner, this initiative provides an opportunity to learn new skills, build friendships, and contribute to something rewarding.
We are currently working on planting and making the garden as accessible as possible for all members, including adjusting the height of garden beds and creating comfortable pathways. With spring just around the corner, we’d love some extra hands to help bring this vision to life.
If you’re interested in getting involved, we’d be delighted to hear from you
Our socials are fun events designed to bring people together in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. From ice-skating and weekend trips to tai chi sessions, these activities provide the perfect opportunity to unwind, meet new people, and build a stronger sense of community.
Take a look at our events page to see what’s coming up next- we’d love for you to join us!
I look forward to coming here every week. It gets me out of the house and moving around, and I like seeing familiar faces. It’s nice to have something like this in the area
This was an experience that for many would only be a once in a lifetime opportunity. To be able to be in a diverse group across age, ethnicities and partake in activities that we knew little about exposed us to things we never knew i.e. Bushcraft, Archery, Orienteering etc. It also expanded my perspective to realise there is more to the UK with regards to natural beauty before setting my sights on any other country. The facilities and support from instructors was exemplary and we all dealt with our fears in one way or another, i.e. fear of water. The varying climate over the 4 days was also a very unique experience as it reflected on the landscape. We also had an additional taster session for martial arts within the Patterdale Halls which was great. Overall, I can't wait for the next time to be a part of such a wonderful group and discover more of the UK while being active.
My mum looks forward to these tea parties so much, she’s always asking who’s coming, who’s hosting, and when the next one is. She loves talking about the past and sharing stories about family, trips to Pakistan, and village life. She’s very social, and these gatherings mean a lot to her, especially since she lives alone. It gives her a chance to meet new people, maintain friendships, and get out of the house. Honestly, she loves it, and it’s such a needed part of her life

Our mission is to empower Muslim women, promote well-being, and create opportunities for growth and connection. We work to raise awareness of the cultural, spiritual, and social contributions of Muslim women, advocating for their inclusion and support in all spaces, including within organisations and public bodies.
We organise a variety of events, including well-being workshops, outdoor activities, community meet-ups, skills-based sessions, and programmes like the Elders’ Tea. We also offer weekend retreats, day trips, and occasional online events.
No, our events and programmes are open to all women, regardless of faith or background. We celebrate diversity and welcome anyone who shares our vision of building a supportive and inclusive community. While our events are designed to accommodate Muslim women, including prayer breaks and culturally sensitive activities, they are aimed at uplifting all women.
Some events are family-friendly, while others are for women aged 18 and above due to organisational considerations, including the need for trained first aid providers for children. Event details will specify whether children can attend. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us for clarification.
Many of our events are free or have minimal costs to ensure accessibility. For activities like weekend retreats, we strive to subsidise costs to make them more affordable for everyone. Details about costs will always be shared in advance.
We are funded through donations, grants, and volunteer support. If you’d like to contribute, whether financially or by volunteering your time, please visit our donation page or contact us directly. Your support helps us continue creating meaningful programmes for women.
Yes, we host programmes and workshops that address mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. We also provide a safe space for women to share their experiences and access resources. If you need more tailored support, we can connect you with partner organisations better suited to your specific needs.
You can stay updated by following us on social media, subscribing to our newsletter, or checking the events section on our website. If you’re ever unsure, you can contact us directly through our website.
